Oneness Needs Everyone (O.N.E.) was born out of a deep sense of compassion, community, and service. When my wife, Marti, and I moved to Durango, we immediately fell in love with the mountains and the wildlife. Concerned about the rapid development in the area, we felt compelled to preserve the natural beauty and resources we cherished. In March of 2021, we purchased a large ranch in Bayfield, CO, transforming it from a hunting property into a sanctuary where wildlife could roam freely for years to come.
As we explored the Ranch, we noticed piles of 24-foot logs from previous fire mitigation efforts. It struck us that this wood could be invaluable to families in the area who relied on it as their primary heat source. A simple post on Nextdoor generated an overwhelming response, and Oneness began its journey. With the help of Mark Anderson (affectionately known as Happy Pappy) and a group of dedicated volunteers, we managed to serve close to 40 families in our first year. In 2023, Greg Sykes, an arborist, and Jamie Boone, owner of the nonprofit Bee Whole, joined our team. Their support enabled us to serve over 60 families with approximately 90 cords of wood.
Initially, we harvested wood from downed trees and dead wood on the Ranch. Two years ago, our efforts extended to the Taylor Ranch subdivision, where we cleared down and dead trees from 10 different homesteads across 350 acres. As Oneness has evolved, we now source wood through various fire mitigation efforts in the area. One notable project about five miles from the Ranch yielded approximately 150 cords of wood, which we obtained at a significantly discounted rate. This summer, we will continue processing this wood while collaborating closely with fire mitigation companies and private landowners to secure more wood for the Ranch.
Together, we warm homes and hearts,
building a future we can all be proud of.
Oneness offers high-quality firewood and handcrafted goods from friends of the Ranch, including pure, chemical-free honey. Every purchase supports sustainable practices and helps families in need.
